Joseph F. Allegretto, MD

Dr. Allegretto is an orthopaedic surgeon. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry summa cum laude from The Ohio State University of Akron, Ohio (June 1981 – August 1983). He completed his Doctor of Medicine degree (August 1983 – May 1987) from prestigious university NEOUCOM (Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine), Rootstown, OH.

Dr. Allegretto completed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Pittsburgh, PA. He is a Graduate of Medical School ranked among the top 20 in 1987. He was named Chief Resident in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1991 – 92. He was chosen for Strathmore’s Who’s Who in 2001 – 03. He is listed in Who’s Who Among Rising Young Americans in 1991. He is also a candidate member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery (2003).

The Dean’s List recognized the outstanding performance of Dr. Allegretto in 1981 – 83. He was honored as Valedictorian of Akron University in BS/MD Program. In addition, he was awarded with Phi Eta Sigma, Honor Fraternity (1982, 1983). Apart from studies, he actively participated in sports. He was honored with All-American, Second Team in National Intermural Flag Football Tournament in 1984.

Apart from this he also has training and experience from the Military. He completed his Officer Basic Training Course and C4 i.e. Combat casualty Care Course. He qualified Marksman, Beretta 9 mm pistol shoot and was certified in ATLS. He was promoted to Major, USAR-MC, in May 1997 and was honorably discharged in Sep 1998. He rejected the ATLS Instructor Position at Ft. Sam Houston. He was also selected as a Commissioned Captain by the US Army Reserve Medical Corps.
