Minimally Invasive Surgery

Smaller scars, faster recovery.

At Thunder Basin Orthopedic, we strive for solutions that offer the best outcomes. Because minimally invasive surgery avoids significant tissue and muscle damage, this results in a faster recovery and less pain throughout the healing process. You can also expect less scarring, as well as a lower risk of infection.

Minimally Invasive Surgery for Knees, Hips, Shoulders, and Wrists

Knee Arthroscopy

Using an arthroscope to visualize the interior of the joint, our skilled surgeon will guide the instruments to make the necessary repairs. This type of surgery is used to reconstruct ACL and meniscal tears, and the removal of inflamed synovium.

Hip Arthroscopy

By making a small incision, an arthroscope is inserted into the hip joint; then surgical tools are inserted through other small incisions. A hip arthroscopy can be used to treat hip dysplasia, hip injuries, femoroacetabular impingement, as well as synovitis, and hip joint infection.

Wrist Arthroscopy

Although less common, wrist arthroscopy can be used for carpal tunnel release procedures as well as fracture and ligament tear repair.

Shoulder Arthroscopy

This is a popular surgery that also uses an arthroscope and specialized tools. The surgery is used to repair damage to the rotator cuff tendons as well as for shoulder instability repair, labral repair or removal, bone spur removal, and the removal of inflamed tissue.

Minimally Invasive Total Joint Replacement

Total joint replacement can also be performed through minimally invasive surgery. There are minimally invasive surgery options available for total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements. In these surgeries, the worn surfaces of the joint are removed and replaced with man-made joint components that are screwed or sometimes cemented in place.
